My students are all non-verbal. PECS or the Picture Exchange Communication System is a way of teaching my students to communicate with us using pictures. Students can choose pictures to express their wants and needs including a preferred activity, what snack they want, or the need to use the restroom. Previously I received some of the educational kits which have been great for lessons and assessments. Now I am really wanting to take things a step further into individual student communication and classroom schedules. I have already seen success in using these materials with my students. However, in using the few materials I have already gotten I have been able to see where some of these other materials would be beneficial. I am wanting to put together a classroom schedule and students' activity schedules that my students can understand. The pre-made cards are a huge time saver. Of course some things I need to print myself so I need the laminating kits and extra velcro to go with the activity cards to add to my students' binders. I have one more student needing a binder to get started. These resources should help my students decrease their frustration by giving them a universal way to communicate with us.
