I have always loved books and believed in reading lots of stories to my prek class. We have had listening centers, and story props to help them understand, retell, and engage with the books. However, because the stories do not always have a book that they can look at while they listen, the students are engaging with stories in a whole new way! Their immaginations are strengthened because they form the pictures in their mind for the stories they are listening to. \r\n\r\nThere are many other social skills that the students are practicing while using the toniebox. They are learning to share and take turns because 4 students can listen but they have to negotiate and agree to listen to one story at a time. They are increasing their vocabulary and conversational skills as they converse with the other students that are listening to the same story. And, finally, they are exercising their listening and comprehension skills.\r\n\r\nNot all of my students enjoy the tonie box, but I have been surprised at the ones that really do love it. One student in particular has a hard time sitting at circle and listening to a bok that I am reading. This child loves the tonie. I can not explain it, but he can sit and listen to stories for 15 minutes or more even though he has a hard time controlling his body to sit for more than a minute or two any other time of day.\r\n\r\nThanks to everyone for making this toniebox a reality for my classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1764686656554,"projectUrl":"project/storytime-magic-with-toniebox-for-our-pr/9530342/","projectTitle":"Storytime Magic With Toniebox for Our Pre-K Explorers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6889071_orig.jpg?crop=2249,2249,x80,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1598585799005","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6889071"},{"teacherId":5293521,"projectId":9766439,"letterContent":"Students now have dividers that are clean and free from marks. That is a lot of learning packed into one activity.\r\n\r\nThe only problem is puzzles are expensive. Thanks to your generosity, my first-grade students now have access to hands-on tools that make learning math engaging, meaningful, and fun. Your contribution has truly transformed our classroom and opened up new opportunities for my young learners.\r\nBefore this project, many of my students struggled to grasp abstract math concepts. Numbers and operations can feel overwhelming for six- and seven-year-olds when they only exist on paper. With the new manipulatives—such as rek n reks, number lines, and geometric shapes—my students can now physically explore and visualize mathematical ideas. These resources allow them to build, compare, and experiment, which deepens their understanding and boosts their confidence.\r\nAlready, I have seen a remarkable difference in their enthusiasm for math. During our recent lessons on addition and subtraction, students eagerly reached for the rek n reks to solve problems. Instead of feeling frustrated, they were smiling, collaborating, and explaining their thinking to one another. These manipulatives have turned math into an interactive experience rather than a stressful task. For many of my students, this is the first time they feel successful in math—and that is because of you.\r\nYour support goes beyond providing materials; it sends a powerful message to my students that their education matters and that there are people who believe in their potential. Many of my students come from families who face financial challenges, and resources like these are not always accessible at home. By funding this project, you have helped level the playing field and given every child in my classroom the chance to thrive.\r\nI am excited to continue using these tools throughout the year as we explore addition and subtraction, counting, number sense and geometry. These manipulatives will not only strengthen foundational skills but also encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity. The impact of your generosity will extend far beyond this school year—it will shape the way my students approach learning for years to come.\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for believing in the power of education and for investing in our classroom. Your kindness and commitment to helping teachers and students succeed inspire me every day. We are deeply grateful for your support and cannot wait to share more of our learning journey with you.","fullyFundedDate":1758853099393,"projectUrl":"project/math-minds/9673755/","projectTitle":"Math Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Westendorf","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10237132"},{"teacherId":5293521,"projectId":9582403,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation to my project.
