We already had 2 pickle ball nets, which was not enough for the fifty plus students we have everyday, so when they saw a court full of pickle ball nets and new paddles they were thrilled. Everyone wanted to use the nice new ones, so we had to rotate the groups when playing. \r\n\r\nWith the new equipment we were able to teach over 700 students how to play pickleball, including how to serve, return the serve, and rally. We also worked on the rules of pickleball and some game play. Even after finishing our pickleball unit many students will play during Fun Friday when they have a choice of activities. \r\n\r\nThe teachers admired our new equipment and what we were teaching the kiddos when they dropped them off and picked them up, so much so that we started an after school pickleball club for the teachers. Thanks to your kindness, my students now have access to engaging new toys and materials that are making a real difference in their learning and communication.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new resources, their faces lit up with excitement! Many of my students rely on play-based learning to build communication, social, and motor skills, and these new toys have opened up so many opportunities. One particularly special moment was when a student who I have never seen use his AAC device independently, use his device to request \"I want more\" and \"I want to play\". When I was working with his peer he used his voice to say \"play\" as well. I am seeing instances like this every week when I am pulling out the new resources!\r\n\r\nWe have been incorporating these new resources into our daily sessions, using sensory toys for engagement, pretend play sets for building vocabulary, and interactive games to encourage turn-taking and requesting. Some of the new favorite toys of the students include the stacking spinner toy, Melissa & Doug Pound and Roll Tower, and the play nesting & sorting garages & cars.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue using these tools to expand our students' ability to express their wants, needs, and ideas. The impact of your generosity goes beyond the classroom—it's helping my students find their voices in their own unique ways.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible! These tools have provided my students with new and engaging ways to learn, reinforcing foundational skills in literacy, math, and creativity. With the iPad, students can access educational apps that support individualized learning, allowing them to work at their own pace and receive immediate feedback. This has been especially helpful for students who need extra practice or those who are ready for more advanced challenges. The touch-screen interface makes it easy for young learners to interact with the content, keeping them engaged and motivated.\r\n\r\nThe addition of headphones has also made a significant difference in our classroom environment. Students can focus on their activities without distractions, which helps improve their concentration and comprehension. This has been particularly beneficial for language development, as students can listen to audiobooks, practice phonics, and engage in interactive storytelling. The ability to work quietly and independently has created a more focused and productive learning space for everyone.
