One student even said, \"It feels like a real kitchen now that we have everything we need!\"\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were genuinely excited and curious. Many of them immediately picked up the supplies and asked how to use them correctly, especially the sanitizing tools and specialized scrub brushes. For teenagers who are usually hard to impress, seeing them so eager to jump into cleanup—something they normally try to avoid—was a great moment. The materials helped them feel more independent and responsible, which is exactly what we want in a culinary classroom.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve expanding our kitchen labs and continuing our unit on kitchen safety and sanitation. With the new cleaning materials, students can confidently maintain their stations and apply ServSafe principles in real time. We're preparing for more advanced cooking labs after the break, and having a clean, well-stocked environment sets us up for success. So, instead of only calling on one student to ask them a question, the whole class can answer a question and be able to show me what they know. I am able to get real time feedback and see whether or not majority of my students are understanding the lesson. If I see that most students got a question wrong I am able to immediately clear up any misunderstandings and provide feed back!\r\n\r\nMy students love the fact that we are learning in a different way outside of the normal powerpoint lessons and book work so they are excited to come to class. With that being said, student attendance has increased compared to attendance last year and I am experiencing fewer moments of having to redirect students to pay attention to the lesson. \r\n\r\nSeeing how beneficial delivering my lesson via Wayground has been at the end of the year I was also able to see how challenging it was for students that were using their personal device (cell phones, and iPads)to remain disciplined and not text or go on social media during the lesson.
