My students are 11th and 12th graders from the inner city. They have a unique opportunity to take college level classes in high school, but no means of correctly completing tasks given. My school has finally gotten off the "F" list (it is a historic African American school in the community); some students are not expected to go to college, so this opportunity to take college level classes gives them a heads up into what they will encounter and their expectations when they venture out beyond these walls. These seemingly minor items will really make a difference in their lives.
