I noticed that in many high school classrooms the comfortability factor is often neglected compared to elementary school settings. There is often no dedicated comfortable reading area. Many students struggle with reading in my classes. I want to facilitate a safe, comfortable reading space in the class that will welcome those students to want to read more. I want them to connect to the many science terms and concepts that we learn in class. By choosing books of various grade levels, it will be inclusive to many students. We want to stay connected to current issues in science and show student's how science can be valuable in many aspects of their lives. Although reading may not come as easy to some students, I believe that encouraging reading in subjects outside of English or Language Arts can help to spark and build students skills, and interest in reading.
