I have some of the most curious, amazing, and determined 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders. I have some of the best and brightest in AP Psychology class, and I have some of those scholars who struggle tremendously in my 9th and 10th grade classes, but one thing reins true for all of them. They all have a willingness to succeed and to make a liar out of everyone who has doubted them. Being from the inner city with all the odds against them has not deterred them from success in any way, and, for that, I love them even more. My school is considered one of the lowest performing schools in the county, but that hasn't damped the heart of the school at all. Last year, my school regressed in test scores, and there has been talk of the state taking control, but that hasn't affected the large amount of love and pride scholars, teachers and alumni have for the school. The school and everyone affiliated with it are committed to seeing roses grow from concrete, and I, for one, am proud to be a former scholar, teacher and alumni.
