Then students practice writing the words on their LCD boards. They love pressing the button to erase their work and try the next word. These resources give our students opportunities to learn through play while practicing important skills like following directions, perseverance, spatial reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments was seeing students immediately gather around the new building materials and begin creating their own structures. They were eager to test their ideas, make changes when something didn't work, and try again. Games like Connect 4, Jenga, and checkers have also given our students opportunities to practice taking turns, following rules, using strategic thinking, and interacting positively with their classmates. For many of our students, these activities provide a fun way to practice skills that can be difficult to teach through worksheets alone.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we plan to use these materials during math practice, STEM activities, indoor learning centers, and small-group enrichment. Instead of losing valuable minutes trying to locate supplies, replace missing materials, or reorganize papers, we can focus on reading, writing, discussing, practicing, and growing.\r\n\r\nThese materials have also helped me provide students with opportunities to see their own progress. When students keep their work organized, they can look back at previous assignments and compare them to what they are able to accomplish now.
