These resources have already made such a positive impact on our students.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were so excited and curious. They immediately wanted to try them out, and it was wonderful to see how quickly they understood that these tools were meant to help their bodies feel calm, focused, and ready to learn. One student who was having a difficult morning was able to use the peanut ball in the sensory room, take a few minutes to reset, and then return to class feeling much more regulated.\r\n\r\nOur students are using these materials during sensory breaks, calm-down time, and as part of their daily routines when they need help managing big feelings or extra energy. The yoga balls and sensory tools give them a safe way to move, relax, and refocus without leaving them feeling singled out.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our students is to continue learning how to recognize when their bodies need a break and choose the tool that helps them best. These resources are helping us teach self-regulation in a hands-on, meaningful way. The resources from Creating a Healthy, Welcoming Space for Every Child will be fully set up and ready to support them from the very first day. I'm especially excited to introduce our new calming and regulation tools, which will give students a safe, structured way to manage big feelings and transitions. I can already picture our first morning meeting of the year—students exploring the space, choosing tools that help them feel grounded, and beginning to understand that this classroom is designed with their well‑being in mind. One of our first projects will be a \"Getting to Know Our Space\" activity, where students rotate through each area and reflect on how it helps them learn and feel safe. I know this will spark meaningful conversations and help set the tone for a supportive year.\r\n\r\nI can already imagine their reactions when they see everything for the first time. Many of my students struggle with sensory overload or anxiety during the first weeks of school, and having a calm, organized environment waiting for them will make such a difference. I expect wide eyes, excited whispers, and a sense of relief as they realize this is a place where they can breathe, reset, and belong. The new materials will also help us launch our early lessons on emotional regulation and community building. Students will learn how to use the tools appropriately, practice identifying their emotions, and begin building routines that support independence. These early experiences will shape the rest of the year, giving students confidence and helping them feel ownership of the space.","fullyFundedDate":1778006191629,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-healthy-welcoming-space-for/10174429/","projectTitle":"Creating a Healthy, Welcoming Space for Every Child","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cooke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2431448_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773887102584","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2431448"},{"teacherId":790851,"projectId":10154005,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom by providing folders for my students.
