The new materials have quickly become a foundational part of our learning. My students are using the equipment in hands-on investigations. One moment came when students used the new ramps to see which textures affect the speed and momentum of rolling objects. They were so excited to try the different textures and compare the momentum and speed of different vehicles. That sense of discovery is exactly what these resources have made possible.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students crowded around as we unpacked all the different hands-on activities. They were thrilled to realize that these were not just demonstration items—I was placing the tools directly into their hands and they would be able to handle and explore all the items independently. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, your donation will continue to shape meaningful learning experiences. Because of the tablet, students with visual needs can photograph and enlarge instructional content and take notes when writing is difficult, and nonverbal students now have a voice to communicate with peers, building their confidence and sense of belonging. When outsiders enter the room, they may be confused when seeing students wiggling and rocking but what they don't realize is that while their bodies are moving, their brains are able to focus in on tasks. Now when it is time for our whole group lesson at the board, students know they have the choice of sitting at their desk or using a lap desk on the floor. When working on independent work, students choose from a rocker chair or an adaptive seat cushion to add to their chair. \r\n\r\nIn addition to the physical seating, other adaptive tools from this project have gone toward creating a sensory break area in the room. Students got to try out the sensory sack and participate in social stories to learn how and when to use these tools to help regulate their bodies.\r\n\r\nWith your generous donations, students in Ms. McClellan's deaf/hard of hearing classroom are able to focus on learning and instruction through the use of these new flexible seating and sensory friendly tools. These LEGO pieces have already transformed the way we approach math and science, providing hands-on opportunities to explore concepts like geometry, measurement, engineering, and problem-solving in a dynamic and engaging way. \r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to integrate these LEGO bricks into a series of STEM challenges, allowing our students to design and build structures that reinforce key principles in science and math. We envision projects that explore symmetry, fractions, force and motion, and even simple machines—all while fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and innovation. Your contribution has opened new doors for exploration and discovery, and we are so grateful for the impact you've made on our classroom. Because of your kindness, our young learners, who are deaf and hard-of-hearing, now have access to meaningful materials that are helping them grow across multiple areas of development. It's been truly inspiring to see the excitement on their faces as they engage with the giant Magna-Tiles to design and build life-sized structures. They frequently build castles, couches, and barns for toy animals as part of their play. These STEM-based activities are not only sparking creativity and collaboration but also encouraging problem-solving and spatial awareness in ways that are both fun and challenging.\r\n\r\nThe fine motor games, like the \"feed-the-animal\" activities, have been equally impactful. These tools are strengthening our students' fingers, hands, and wrist, which are essential skills that will support them as they begin their journey toward writing. The rack for jump ropes and hula hoops has become a hub for warm-up stations and small group activities. One of our favorite projects so far was creating a fitness circuit using all the new equipment—students rotated between hula hoop challenges, jump rope relays, and ball control drills. It was a great way to keep everyone active, engaged, and working together\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate! As soon as the students walked in and saw the new racks and equipment neatly organized, their eyes lit up. Several of them even commented, \"It looks like a real gym now!\" They were thrilled to have easy access to everything and couldn't wait to start using the materials.\r\n\r\nWe're currently working on a unit that focuses on teamwork and motor skills, and the new equipment plays a big role. Students are learning how to collaborate during partner and group activities, while also setting personal goals for improvement. The baby wipes and facial tissues have become part of our daily routine—students know where to find them and take initiative in keeping their hands and workspaces clean. The Lysol helps us sanitize high-touch areas regularly, and the broom has been a lifesaver for quick clean-ups throughout the day. One of our favorite classroom routines now is our \"Clean-Up Crew\" time, where students take pride in making sure our space is tidy and ready for the next learning activity. It's turned into a moment of teamwork and responsibility that has really built classroom community.\r\n They were genuinely excited—and a bit surprised! One student asked, \"Is all of this really for us?\" It was clear they felt valued and seen. The new supplies made them feel more comfortable and cared for, and several students took on leadership roles in making sure the supplies are used respectfully and refilled when needed. It's amazing how something as simple as tissues and wipes can create such a sense of ownership and pride.\r\n We're currently working on a science unit about healthy habits and germs, and these new supplies tie in perfectly. Students are learning how to prevent the spread of illness, the importance of cleanliness, and how our environment affects our well-being.
