My first graders have been using the expo markers during our phonics lessons — students take turns coming up to our whiteboards to practice writing and blending words. Having fresh, bright markers makes such a difference; the letters show up clearly and students are so eager to be the one who gets to write. The glue has been equally valuable for our hands-on literacy stations, where students build words and sort pictures by their sounds using cut-and-paste activities.\r\nFirst graders get excited about everything, and new supplies are no exception! When I brought out the fresh expo markers, several students immediately noticed the bright colors and wanted to know if they could pick their favorite. There is something about new, well-stocked materials that makes students feel valued — like their learning space is cared for. That energy carries into the work they do.\r\nWe are continuing our phonics and word work units, and these supplies will carry us through the rest of the year. Coming up, students will use the expo markers for our word-building practice at our small whiteboard station, and the glue will support upcoming cut-and-sort activities as we work on vowel sounds and sight words. Every supply that keeps our stations running means more hands-on practice — and that practice is what helps my students become confident, capable readers.","fullyFundedDate":1755745093196,"projectUrl":"project/the-essentials/9590382/","projectTitle":"The Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Collier","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6699394_orig.jpg?crop=827,827,x0,y146&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1670595797801","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6699394"},{"teacherId":6893554,"projectId":9821779,"letterContent":"Students are enjoying all of our new class materials!
