Working in a low income, high poverty area of DC our students don't always have a chance to receive the best materials. As their teacher my goal is to give them the best education I can. I constantly find myself spending my own money on different books that I know will interest them. Every year I take a survey of what the students like to play and watch and I find books to tailor to each child. With the technology I am asking for, I will be able to give the students an unlimited amount of books online. Currently, we use websites like GetEpic to read together. However, with the tablets in the technology center the students can look for new books to read. The technology center will be a new center and making it cozy with rocking chairs and bean bags I know the students will gravitate towards it. I am looking forward to the children having autonomy in being able to find any book they want to even if its during another quiet time of the day.
