My students are apart of a medically fragile program that was recently incorporated into a traditional urban school setting. My students live in shelters, are in transitional foster care or high-poverty homes. Their needs are great. Families and guardians are limited in their ability to support our classroom. In addition to these challenges, the students have severe medical and cognitive disabilities that limit their access to learning and in experiencing the outside world. Hands on Science learning is imperative as often times their only access to the world and education is through touch in our classroom. The Center Science Habitat and supplies requested would provide a wonderful opportunity for them to access new senses and allow for my students to experience the outside world that is often unavailable to them.
