Because of you, the students in our 3rd through 5th grades now have greater access to books that inspire curiosity, spark imagination, and open doors to new worlds.\r\n\r\nYour contributions are already making a meaningful difference. We have been able to place new, high-interest books into classrooms, expand small-group reading collections, and offer students a wider range of stories that reflect both their own experiences and perspectives far beyond our community. Several students have already shared their excitement about discovering new series, trying genres they've never read before, and feeling more confident as readers.\r\n\r\nYour kindness is helping us build a vibrant culture of literacy—one where every child can find a book that speaks to them. The joy, pride, and sense of possibility these students feel when holding a new book is a direct result of your generosity.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for investing in their growth. The science materials we purchased have already begun to make a big impact.\r\n\r\nStudents used the trowels to get plant starts like chard and kale into the ground at the beginning of fall and were able to see them grow over the next few months. This helped to reinforce their learning for their units on plant needs and plant structures as we watered and investigated the growing plants. We also held a garden party for families to attend, and they were able to take home some of the harvest!\r\n\r\nOur kindergartners also learned about animal needs and designed zoo enclosures for grasslands animals. They used the clay purchased to add food sources and shade structures to their habitats. For most students, this was the favorite project of the first term and left many of them asking, \"When can we come back to science?\" (The answer: In five weeks, since science is taught as a rotating special.)\r\n\r\nFourth graders are currently creating circuits, which will lay the foundation for their wind turbine design projects this spring. Considering their excitement when they were able to light a bulb with a battery, I can only imagine how enthusiastic they will be to measure how much electricity they generate with the wind turbines they design. Whether we're playing the recorder, practicing ukulele, or singing as a class, students are now able to maintain better posture, focus more easily on the music, and participate with greater confidence.
