One moment that really stood out was during a challenging math lesson—students were working through multi-step problems that would normally lead to frustration for some. This time, I was able to offer a small snack as encouragement for perseverance. It completely shifted the atmosphere. Students stayed engaged longer, supported one another, and took pride in sticking with difficult work.\r\n\r\nWhen the snacks first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were wide-eyed and full of questions, but what touched me most was how appreciative they were. For many, having access to a simple snack during the day made them feel cared for and supported. It wasn't just about the food—it created a sense of comfort and motivation that carried into their learning.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I plan to continue using the snacks as a positive reinforcement tool tied to both academic effort and classroom community. We're currently working on building strong problem-solving habits in math, and students will be setting personal goals, reflecting on their progress, and celebrating growth along the way. The snacks help reinforce those moments of effort and success, making learning feel both rewarding and supportive.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping create a classroom environment where students feel motivated, valued, and ready to learn each day. Since receiving the sensory supports, I have seen an incredible difference in how my students in our self-contained classroom thrive with structure, routine, and intentional sensory input. Using TEACCH practices alongside the new resources, students are building independence as they navigate clearly organized tasks, manage transitions more smoothly, and engage more confidently in both academic and social learning. These essential tools simply would not have been possible without your support.\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their excitement and curiosity were immediate. The sensory toys have become a powerful tool for emotional regulation, helping students calm their bodies and refocus when they feel overwhelmed. The balance ball seats support movement while improving attention during lessons, and the mobile cubby cabinet has been a game-changer for organizing TEACCH tasks so students can work independently with pride. Watching students successfully complete activities on their own and feel confident in their routines has been incredibly rewarding.\r\nThanks to you, our classroom is now a calm, structured, and engaging environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. Our next steps include expanding independent work systems, strengthening life skills, and continuing to build social-emotional growth through consistent routines and sensory support. Your kindness has made a lasting impact on my students' daily learning experiences, and we are so grateful for your role in helping them grow with confidence and success.","fullyFundedDate":1765205114220,"projectUrl":"project/balance-focus-and-calm-empowering-stu/9770322/","projectTitle":"Balance, Focus, and Calm: Empowering Students with Sensory Supports","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Liwanag","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10292550_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759102875104","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10292550"},{"teacherId":6153779,"projectId":9894617,"letterContent":"After receiving the new laptop, my paraprofessional and I are able to create worksheets, set up virtual field trips.\r\n\r\nWe play music for movement and also nap time.\r\n\r\nWe participate in virtual professional developments.\r\n\r\nWe manage daily data collections and routines such as attendance, access various curriculum.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited to see the new technology and made requests for various websites.\r\n\r\nWe truly appreciate our new laptop and look forward to year of use. The science materials we purchased have already begun to make a big impact.\r\n\r\nStudents used the trowels to get plant starts like chard and kale into the ground at the beginning of fall and were able to see them grow over the next few months. This helped to reinforce their learning for their units on plant needs and plant structures as we watered and investigated the growing plants. We also held a garden party for families to attend, and they were able to take home some of the harvest!\r\n\r\nOur kindergartners also learned about animal needs and designed zoo enclosures for grasslands animals. They used the clay purchased to add food sources and shade structures to their habitats. For most students, this was the favorite project of the first term and left many of them asking, \"When can we come back to science?\" (The answer: In five weeks, since science is taught as a rotating special.)\r\n\r\nFourth graders are currently creating circuits, which will lay the foundation for their wind turbine design projects this spring.
