Learning a second language can be challenging for students. They are very shy when asked to speak, and feel confused when they are listening to spoken French. Having the headphones has opened them up for new opportunities to practice their French skills. Annually, French II students take the Standards-Based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP) test that assesses language proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Across the U.S., the lowest scores are usually in the areas of listening and speaking. Now, my students can get daily practice and hopefully improve their scores with the help of these new headphones. \r\n\r\nThis donation has been immeasurable for us. They immediately began using the white boards to practice addition and subtraction problems, which has made math lessons more engaging and interactive. The sensory toys have been especially helpful during moments when students feel upset, giving them a calming tool to regulate their emotions and return to learning more quickly. We also used the markers and paper to create a Hispanic Heritage Month project, where students made colorful posters to celebrate and honor Hispanic culture. Seeing their pride in displaying their work around the classroom was a wonderful moment.\r\n\r\nThese resources have truly transformed our daily routines and projects. My students were thrilled when they first saw the materials and couldn't wait to dive in. Moving forward, we will continue to use the white boards for math practice, and the art supplies will support upcoming seasonal projects and writing activities. Your generosity has made our classroom a more creative, supportive, and engaging space for learning. Your generosity has made a lasting difference in my classroom and in the lives of my students.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, my students began the year with all the organizational tools they needed—binder dividers, pens, highlighters, Post-its, and pouches—that have helped them stay on top of their assignments, manage their time effectively, and take pride in their work. This project directly improved my students' learning by creating a consistent, organized system that supports them in every subject area, not just AVID.\r\n\r\nWith these materials in place, I was able to focus more on teaching higher-level skills such as inquiry-based discussions, collaborative projects, and critical reading strategies—knowing my students were equipped to keep track of their learning. This level of preparedness has boosted their confidence, participation, and academic independence.\r\n\r\nI want to give special recognition to the Bezos Family Foundation for their generous support. Your commitment to empowering students and teachers has an incredible ripple effect, and my classroom is living proof of the positive change you inspire.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and in the power of education.
