My students are budding young adults who are bright, funny & full of energy! Although I teach 9th- 12th graders, my 9th graders dominate my time (partly because of scheduling & partly because we just love each other so much). There is never a dull moment! Despite the many challenges that most of them face, they are the most vibrant and exciting students I've ever worked with. Some of my students have faced one or more challenges such as being homeless, having the utilities disconnected for long periods of time, and verbal & physical abuse. Many also suffer from mental and/or health challenges that add to their daily frustrations. 100% of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch at our Title I public school in Washington, DC. I believe our school is amazing. Previously defined by its poor attendance and student behavior, our school is evolving into an Academy of Health Sciences and Mass Media Program.
