My classroom received many resources for vocabulary and comprehension acitivities. The plan is to incorporate higher level vocabulary words for my fifth grade class. This exposure will help with comprehension skills. Currently, we have been introducing about 10 additional words per week. The students have been working on synonyms, antonyms, and using the words in context. As the students increase their vocabulary, the comprehension will improve. \r\n\r\nThe students are also enjoying the \"comfy\" seats that we purchased. This allows the students to have flexible seating while they work around the room. Some choose to sit in the chairs with the back and others are using the soft pillows. \r\n\r\nAfter receiving and using these materials, the students have been more engaged and have a comfortable and safe learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1760666382507,"projectUrl":"project/comprehension-kick-off/9830855/","projectTitle":"Comprehension Kick-Off","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Coates","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10312104"},{"teacherId":10096306,"projectId":9817916,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your contributions to our classroom! My students have increased their engagement through the addition of the activities funded by this project. We are all extremely grateful for the opportunity to receive items that benefit our academic, social and emotional well-being while at school.\r\n\r\nStudents have enjoyed the flexible seating arrangements such as the floor cushions as they engage in reading texts and work together to solve problems with partners. The privacy folders have been helpful in making students more comfortable during quizzes and tests as they give them their own private area to focus. Students have also been loving the vocabulary game and ask to play it all the time! It has created such joy and excitement among students as they describe words and guess amongst each other. The small dry erase board has also been extremely useful in teaching during small group instruction. Students are able to follow along with ease and practice on their own personal whiteboard.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, the biography books have been great tools for students to read as a model, especially when they wrote their own biographical spotlight about a well known scientist and researcher. These books helped students understand the text structure and sparked ideas for their own writing. The book series \"Series of Unfortunate Events\" has also provided a handful of students with the opportunity to read a text at their lexile range. The read aloud books have also helped build classroom community with students and foster their social and emotional well-being and belonging within the class.\r\n\r\nI am so excited to continue to witness the positive impacts of this project! In reading, our new books and games have sparked a desire to read, helping students connect words to the world around them. One standout moment was during a recent lesson when students worked in small groups to apply the materials to a real-world task connected to our current unit. I watched students collaborate, problem-solve, and explain their thinking to one another with a level of confidence and engagement that was truly exciting to see. The resources helped turn an abstract concept into something tangible and accessible for all learners.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reaction was immediate excitement. They were eager to explore, asked thoughtful questions, and couldn't wait to get started. Several students even commented on how \"official\" or \"real\" the materials made them feel, which was a powerful reminder of how much access to quality resources impacts student motivation and ownership of learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, students now have the tools they need to go deeper with our current project. The next steps include building on what they've learned by applying these skills independently and through collaborative projects. Students will continue using the materials to refine their understanding, reflect on their progress, and create final products that demonstrate both their learning and creativity. Your support didn't just provide supplies — it created opportunities, confidence, and excitement for learning, and that impact will continue throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1760797982827,"projectUrl":"project/third-grade-thinkers/9832602/","projectTitle":"Third Grade Thinkers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Truitt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10313628"},{"teacherId":7655332,"projectId":9837924,"letterContent":"On behalf of our school community, thank you for your generous support of our library. Because of your kindness and belief in the power of literacy, our library has been transformed into an even more welcoming, engaging, and inspiring space for children.\r\nYour donations made it possible for us to add a new books to our collection. These books are already sparking curiosity, encouraging a love of reading, and supporting students at every level. Seeing children light up as they discover a new favorite book is one of the greatest rewards, and your generosity made that possible.\r\nIn addition to books, your support allowed us to add comfortable bean bag seating, which has quickly become a favorite seating option in the library. These cozy seating options have helped create a calm and inviting environment where students feel relaxed and excited to read. Many children now choose to curl up with a book and spend extra time reading.\r\nYour donations of LEGO materials and magnetic toys have also had a tremendous impact. These hands-on resources encourage creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Students have been able to connect and show understanding through their creations. Students are using the Legos and magnetic toys to build, experiment, and work together, often blending play with learning in meaningful ways. \r\nMost importantly, your generosity has helped us create a library that supports the whole child. The combination of engaging books, flexible seating, and interactive materials allows students to learn in ways that meet their individual needs and interests. Whether a student is reading quietly, building with friends, or exploring new ideas, the library now offers something for everyone.\r\nThank you for investing in our students and in the future of our school.
