This project contains books and resources that will support my students in morning meeting and in collaborative work throughout the school day. Through the use of morning meeting time and collaborative learning activities, it is my hope to build meaningful lasting relationships between the students in my class. Morning meeting is an essential component in a successful school day! It is where students make connections with each other and also learn important social emotional learning skills. Read alouds are a very important part of morning meeting in my class. Read alouds not only model fluent reading, but also allow students to discuss a wide of variety of topics. The books in the grant will allow me to work with students on developing kindness, empathy, acceptance of others, growth mindset, and many other topics that help to develop the emotional intelligence of the students. Throughout last school year, we did not have as many opportunities to work together as learners. There were limitations on distance and we were often working virtually. Through this experience, I realized the value of working cooperatively with one another. All students are most successful when given opportunities to work together with their peers. Many of the resources in this grant will make working together fun! Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting my classroom! I am excited to begin a new school year. It is always my goal to have my class feel like a family and I know that these resources would help me to succeed!
