By having a leveled library in the classroom, I want to give my students every opportunity to become fluent, independent readers. Often times, we have books on the grade level for students, but I have many students below level and few that are above level. It is frustrating for those students who can’t read on level and they want to give up. Having books on their level will give them the confidence to take a chance when reading. As for the above level kids, they need books that will challenge them and excite them to read. Allowing students to successfully read on their level will build confident, eager readers! I want each of my students to be excited when they open a book! Who knows, with exposure to books early on, we could be creating the authors of the future!
