The library is truly the heart of our school, and our students look forward to their weekly visits where they enjoy quality literature, check out books that spark their interests, and collaborate with classmates through meaningful SEL and STEAM-based activities. Your support helps make this special space one where curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning continue to grow.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students now have access to a wide range of diverse, engaging materials that reflect their interests and experiences. From inclusive and empowering picture books like Hair Love, Big, and The Kids' Book of Diversity to high-interest graphic novels such as Dog Man, Cat Kid Comic Club, and Max Meow, these resources encourage reluctant and avid readers alike to see themselves as readers. Many of my students do not have access to a large number of books at home, so providing high-quality, engaging literature in the library is essential to fostering their love of reading.\r\n\r\nThe SEL and STEAM materials, including imaginative playsets, dolls representing diverse identities and careers, and hands-on learning tools, will support students as they build problem-solving, cooperation, and social-emotional skills. These resources allow students to learn through play, conversation, and collaboration while strengthening empathy and self-awareness. Thank you for investing in our students, our library, and their lifelong love of reading and learning—your impact will be felt every day in our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1760930104583,"projectUrl":"project/loving-literacy-sel-in-the-library/9847247/","projectTitle":"Loving Literacy & SEL in the Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barbro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1497029_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1502125339653","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/marybeth-barbro"},{"teacherId":7174229,"projectId":5397047,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. Students are able to look at or read the books dealing with emotions in the calm down corner located within the classroom too.\r\n\r\nWhen the students saw the materials, they were excited to use them. During my schools meet the teacher night, I had one student who when walking into the classroom said that \"this looks like paradise\". That made me happy to know that the materials that I ordered will be beneficial for both my students and I this school year and beyond.\r\n\r\nMy next step for my students is to continue to incorporate the literature focusing on feelings with the classroom. Building a positive environment is crucial. I want my students to be able to express how they feel to others so that they know that our classroom is a safe place.","fullyFundedDate":1613170210146,"projectUrl":"project/respectful-responsible-and-ready-to-lea/5397047/","projectTitle":"Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7174229_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x307,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657629898907","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-moon1"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44573","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":305,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":70,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":67.7,"schoolId":44573,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Joseph E.
