My kindergarten classroom is a diverse environment. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. In addition, the students have varying school experiences. Many of my students have not attended any type of school setting before kindergarten. My school received Title I funding for the 2011-2012 school year. Therefore, there is not a lot of funding to provide a variety of hands-on learning activities and manipulatives for the students. These types of materials are critical to the development of literacy, math, and social problem-solving skills.
