The large whiteboards that hang on the walls have helped drastically with engagement in my small group. I use them for modeling and for independent work. They are so proud of themselves for participating and working together as a team. \r\n\r\nAny student could participate in this project. I had strong readers and I had reluctant readers sign up. The Logitech headsets with noise-canceling microphones allow students to listen to stories and textbooks without distractions and clearly use speech-to-text when writing. These tools are especially powerful for my students with special needs, helping them read, write, and communicate more effectively.\r\n\r\nThe iPad styluses are already helping students practice handwriting and letter formation in engaging, literacy-based apps. In addition, the sensory tools—including the trampoline, foot fidgets, and weighted lap pads—are helping students regulate their bodies, get their wiggles out, and improve focus. When students are calm and regulated, they are better able to attend to instruction and fully participate in learning.\r\n\r\nYour support recognizes that students learn best in different ways and that movement, sensory input, and access to read-aloud text are essential for success. Our students were able to participate in a multitude of activities and hands-on learning experiences through our new classroom resources. One of the biggest hits in our classroom was the donation of the lab coats, which we ended up using to turn our class into a doctor's office to wrap up our Human Body Unit. Students transformed into DOCTORS!\r\n One resource in particular that I am grateful for is the pack of writing cubes. My co-teacher and I were brainstorming for awhile on how we can incorporate more independent writing with our students and these cubes were a perfect addition. We have WIN built into our school day, which stands for What I Need. During this time, all students have the opportunity to work with differentiated materials that align to where they are at, academically. Students who have used the writing cubes have been thoroughly enjoying them, as it provides them creative opportunities to expand sentences while still having some support of a sentence starter. It has been amazing to see how imaginative and detailed our students have been. My co-teacher and I are excited to see where these resources will take our students for the remainder of this school year and years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1760724207478,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-experiences/9831524/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Learning Experiences!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dougherty","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10313139"},{"teacherId":4477714,"projectId":9831878,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to the music room at Old State Elementary!
