Just like grown-ups, first graders love to find their best working spot in the classroom. I get my best pieces of work from students when they have chosen their workspace for the assignment. Work spaces range from traditional desks to stretched out on the floor to curled up under a desk. Some students even prefer to simply stand at their work space while others choose to sit on a balance ball/stool or beanbag.. This project will allow me to transform my traditional seating classroom to a variety of unique workspaces for the individual learning styles among the class. All students will benefit from this project each time they are able to work in the workspace that fits their learning style. Students will also benefit from more opportunities to move about the room during the day. This will allow for individual movement breaks, as needed, allowing for more on task learning time.
