The band-aids, feminine pads, and cough drops have also given students access to small but important personal-care items when they need them, allowing them to take care of themselves without having to leave class or feel embarrassed.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were genuinely excited to see the supplies! While some of these items may seem like simple everyday necessities, my students quickly understood how useful they would be in our classroom. They were especially excited to see the Expo markers because they know how often we use them during interactive lessons. The personal-care supplies also sparked conversations about how having these resources available can help make our classroom a more comfortable and supportive place for everyone.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out to me was watching students take ownership of our classroom environment. During one of our activities, students worked together using the whiteboard to share ideas and demonstrate their thinking. Having plenty of Expo markers meant everyone could participate, and afterward, students helped clean the shared surfaces and organize our space. It was difficult to teach concepts as students couldn't master the tools.
