Because of your kindness, my students and I received dry erase markers, dry erase erasers, laminating sheets, and washable markers—supplies that have made an immediate and meaningful impact on our daily learning environment. Your donation has helped transform our classroom into a more interactive, engaging, and student-centered space, and I am incredibly grateful.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful ways we used these materials was to support vocabulary development and visual learning. Using the dry erase markers, we created a large numbers display organized by tens (for example, 1–9, 10–19, 20–29, and so on). Each number range was color-coordinated, which helped students recognize patterns and make connections between numbers more easily. This visual support has been especially beneficial for students who are visual learners or who need additional reinforcement. Students regularly reference this display during activities, and it has become a shared point of pride in our classroom. The photo included shows just how colorful, organized, and student-centered this resource is.\r\n\r\nThe laminating sheets have been a true game-changer. With them, I was able to create durable, reusable learning materials that will last for years to come. One example is a set of laminated cards used for a memory game focused on school supplies vocabulary. Students play this game in pairs or small groups, practicing key words through repetition in a fun, low-pressure way. Because the cards are laminated, they withstand frequent use and allow students to fully engage without worrying about damaging materials. This kind of hands-on practice builds confidence, supports language retention, and encourages collaboration among students.\r\n\r\nDry erase markers and erasers have also dramatically increased student participation. Students now regularly work on mini whiteboards to answer questions, brainstorm ideas, and practice new skills. This allows every student to respond at the same time, giving me immediate feedback on their understanding and allowing students to take risks without fear of making permanent mistakes. The ability to quickly erase and try again has created a classroom culture where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process, not something to be afraid of.\r\n\r\nFinally, the washable markers have allowed students to express themselves creatively. Student artwork now fills our walls, adding color, warmth, and a sense of ownership to the space. The artwork you'll see in the photos isn't just decorative—it represents student voice, creativity, and confidence. When students see their work displayed, they feel valued and motivated to do their best.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students have access to materials that support active learning, creativity, and collaboration every single day. These supplies may seem simple, but their impact is profound. Thank you for believing in our students and for helping create a classroom where learning is engaging, joyful, and meaningful. Your support truly makes a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1762267749020,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-to-work-learning-spanish/9746913/","projectTitle":"Let's Get to Work Learning Spanish!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Treme","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9524556"},{"teacherId":9456233,"projectId":8188806,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for all your donations. One thing that is consistent is that in math, we teach a lesson per day, and we have for a few years now. Your donations helped to bring some freedom and brightness to this routine.\r\n\r\n\tFirst, let me begin by starting with the Urban Lifestyle Faux Fur chairs. These chairs have added positive consequences, collaboration with agreement to use of chairs, and a sense of active relaxation. Students love to sit there during class (one requirement is they must work!) and at the end of the day will seek my room out for dismissal.\r\n\r\n\tThe work that students must do in math and their small groups is to take notes and problem solve in their notebooks. So, the gel pens have helped entice them to have a writing implement at the beginning of class and help keep them writing which helps their muscle memory of the content. The groups have been kept organized thanks to the various storage caddies that were donated: some were baskets for each class' notebooks, some were for various math manipulatives and notebook tools, such as new scissors and glue sticks. It lets me keep the classes and groups all color-coded. Some of these can be seen in the back of the pictures on the shelves. \r\n\r\n\tOther donations pictured in the foreground and the background include several games. Students love to be able to play a strategy game on short days or days when they have finished their work early. They seek out chess and mancala. It is nice to add a sense of freedom from traditional class time in a positive, collaborative, academic manner. I have several \"stations\" connected to our math standards that we look forward to using soon. \r\n\r\n\tThese Math Game Times and small ways to brighten students' days would not be possible without the Donors Choose Community. We are especially appreciative of those who want to see growth in the field of STEM. I was able to move the Spanish language books to an area that is more accessible and transfer the materials that were on an old book shelf to a newer bookcase. The bulkier items were then transferred to the donated book case on wheels.
