This project will allow the students in my STEM classroom the ability to work with a very reliable and quick 3D printer. This particular printer is the same one they will be using once they enter high school where they actually have two. By getting this printer in my room, I will be able to introduce them to its abilities early so when they go to high school they will already be familiar. Given the amount of time I have with my students I would love to be able to better prepare them for STEM electives offered in high school. Unfortunately, STEM at the middle school level is a quarterly class, meaning that students are only in my room for 45 days out of the year. The good part about the quarterly class is that it allows me to see every 8th grade student before they enter high school, therefore every 8th grade student will have the opportunity to use and work with the 3D printer. What I hope to do is expose and introduce my students to different classes and electives they can take in high school that are geared and created to guide students into STEM related careers such as robotics, engineering, coding and CAD.
