Your donation provided us a clean and cozy classroom rug that we use daily for a variety of reasons. Students love to gather on the rug to work in collaborative groups, to lounge out and read a book or listen to a read aloud, or to gather as a whole group for SEL activities and bonding lessons. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw our classroom rug they loved that it was spacious and the circles on the design gave them each an individual space. They were very excited and ask often to come to the rug for learning or collaboration. \r\n\r\nThis year I am lucky to serve a very kind and inquisitive groups of 3rd graders. We are working to incorporate STEAM and play-based learning into our lessons so any future projects I may post would be geared towards that. Currently, when the students are finished with all of their work they have the option to get a logic puzzle and work on it on the rug. I purchased these myself and while the students love them now, I know that they will probably get tired of them as the year goes on. I am thinking of creating a project that would include resources for stem kits to engage the kids in inquiry and engineering. \r\n\r\nI so appreciate your generosity! Our students are enjoying their morning meeting with the spacious area rug that gives plenty of space for little bodies to learn. At the moment, we are still getting acquainted to school rules, schedule and routines. So waiting is an essential skill, many of our students pick the library area where we use our new chair.\r\nThe students are really enjoying all the variety of new toys especially the ones at pretend play. Since our school is play based, we believe that children learn best through play. These new toys have brought new opportunities for children to use their imagination and social skills \r\nAt snack time we have friends that help put away leftover snacks and drinks into our new fridge a perfect opportunity for learning about responsibilities and math.\r\nOur future projects will continue to involve all the supplies given by our generous donors. I recently added Magna-Tiles that look like roads along with magnetic cars, which the students have really enjoyed using to create roads and different designs. During the first week of school, we used magnetic ABC letters to practice letter recognition and explore words.\r\nOne of my favorite moments was bringing the magnetic board to the rug during meeting time. We created a classroom graph based on our favorite colors: red, blue, or yellow. The students were excited to see their choices represented on the board. We talked about which color had the most friends and which had the least, giving them a hands-on way to practice early math and counting skills.\r\nThe students were excited when they first saw the new materials and immediately wanted to explore them.
