The mini whiteboards have quickly become a classroom favorite, especially when we are practicing new skills or working through challenging problems together. They also love using the colored pens to color-code their notes and assignments, which has been a great way to help them organize their thinking and make connections between concepts. We have used the magnets to display student artwork, flyers, and other things that make our classroom feel like our own space. One of my favorite moments was having students help me assemble my standing desk and classroom wagon and help put up the paper on our bulletin boards. Seeing them excited to help set up our classroom made it feel even more special.\r\nEven the simplest supplies have made a huge difference in our daily routines. MY students know they always have access to pencils, tissues, and hand sanitizer whenever they need them, without having to ask. Having plenty of paper has also allowed me to print assignments and practice materials, which my students really appreciate because they enjoy having physical copies to work on. These might seem like little things, but they help create a classroom where students feel comfortable, prepared, and supported.\r\nAs we continue through the school year, I am excited to keep finding new ways to use these resources to make math more engaging and accessible. Many years ago, I purchased a set of handbells for a self-contained, special education classroom where I worked with a low vision student once a week. I laminated color coded music sheets and every week we practiced. Up until then, my student and I would usually find a quiet space to work together one on one. This was the first time I planned a lesson that incorporated his sighted classmates too. At the school's Christmas Assembly, the class played \"I Can't Help Falling in Love with You\" by Elvis Presley. It was such a beautiful moment, the students nailed it, and there wasn't a dry eye in the auditorium. Ever since that moment I have dreamed of expanding the handbells to every classroom where I have students with vision loss and additional disabilities. Your generosity has made that dream a reality.\r\n\r\nI made laminated copies of handbell music and created a slide show that flashes the color of each note on the smartboard to the beat of the music. We are still in the first month of school, so the students have just been introduced to the bells. The students are continuing to explore the bells and learning how to ring their bell just one time when the color of their bell appears on the screen. Once they get that part down, we will begin to practice playing music. We have decided that the first song we learn will be \"Happy Birthday\" since it will be the song we can perform most often throughout the school year.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students this incredible opportunity to learn to play the handbells.
