The materials used for this project will all go towards giving my students a chance to grow beyond the boundaries of their hometown of Bridgeport, Connecticut. In our class, we will discuss how society is constantly ever-changing, how nothing stays the same. These texts will be used to give my students opportunities to explore various cultures and societies that will provide them with a new perspective on the world in which they live. The novels for this class all have aspects of society that go beyond what is normal, and by providing my students with the opportunity to read them, we will also provide them with new insights about people, technology, religion, and various other aspects that create a society. My students rarely receive the proper materials to be successful. Having these texts will allow them to succeed at a level that is equal to more privileged schools surrounding their own. Without these materials, my students would not be able to thrive.
