The simple act of being able to warm their hands, put on a cozy pair of socks, or wear a warm hat helped students feel cared for and ready to begin their day. Students have enjoyed using the flashcards to ask questions, participate in discussions, and challenge one another to learn more. These conversations have helped make history interactive while encouraging students to connect the past with their own lives and communities.\r\n\r\nThe posters and decorations transformed our learning space into a welcoming celebration of Black excellence. Throughout the month, students were surrounded by positive images and messages that reinforced the importance of perseverance, courage, achievement, and self-advocacy. The visual representation made a meaningful difference. Students were able to walk into the classroom and immediately recognize that their identities, cultures, and histories are valued and worthy of celebration.\r\n\r\nThe student swag was another special part of this project. Students were excited to receive items that allowed them to proudly participate in the celebration of Black History Month. Seeing students smile, share the items with their peers, and proudly display them reinforced an important message: You matter. Your history matters. Your voice matters.
