They immediately noticed how much more organized and accessible our headphones would be. Before receiving these materials, our headphones were difficult to store neatly and were often spread throughout the classroom. Now, each set has a designated place, and the rolling cart allows us to easily move our headphones and technology supplies wherever they are needed.\r\n\r\nMy students use the headphones during reading practice, educational programs, listening activities, and independent learning. Having an organized system has made it easier for students to take responsibility for their materials, find what they need, and return everything to its proper place. It has also helped us spend less time looking for supplies and more time focused on learning.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working on building our reading skills and becoming more independent learners, these resources will continue to support our daily classroom routines. My students are learning that taking care of our classroom materials is part of being a responsible member of our classroom community. Kids enjoy a good book especially when they are young, but older kids like listening to books being read to them too! Often, chapter books are seen as too hard and laborious when children are left to read them by themselves especially children who struggle to read. In my class, few kids enjoy a good chapter book on their own, but these kids are excellent readers and self-starters. \r\n\r\nWhen we read our class books together, I can model good reading habits and expression. The kids really get into the content of these books because they all have equal access and we can all share ideas in class discussions. Often, lower readers like finding the book online and sometimes I record my reading so they can hear it again. Some kids will not want to stop reading, and they will begin to read ahead to find out what happens next. It is very exciting to see the kids become hooked into a story and hear groans when we have to stop reading. The kids were thrilled to see all the weighted stuffed animals they can use throughout the day. Many kids like to cradle the stuffed animals like a baby and by doing this, I can't help thinking that this action promotes caring and nurturing feelings inside of the children. They seem to find a connection to a comforting embrace. Often when kids are reading or doing something hard, they like having the weighted animals to hold. These animals relieve stress and anxiety.\r\n\r\nThe kids also respond to the chews we received as a result of this project. The chews are solid, textured blocks that kids can chew on and hangs around their necks. Often, kids have a lot of nervous energy and make noises in class so having these chews help.
