Students are collaborating much more easily since we have started using the new tables, and we can walk in the room more easily!\r\n\r\nFor the latest project in my world history class, students have put leaders of democratic revolutions on trial, asking if those revolutions truly changed every day life in France and Haiti. Students had to collaborate reading primary sources, and with our old desks students would accidentally back up from their groups, and have to speak loudly to be heard. With our new tables, collaboration comes much more easily.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, we have 90 minute periods once a week and students need to stretch at least once in that time. With extra space in the room, students can more easily stand up to walk to the trash can or sharpen a pencil, without tripping on a backpack or a peer.\r\n\r\nWe are so very grateful for your support for our new tables, thank you so much!","fullyFundedDate":1755788527636,"projectUrl":"project/spacious-seating-for-groupwork/9538738/","projectTitle":"Spacious Seating for Groupwork","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jensen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4124515"},{"teacherId":10079555,"projectId":9463320,"letterContent":"I am filled with gratitude for your generosity and support of my classroom! Just two weeks after posting my fundraising request it was completely fulfilled with your help. My Spanish students began this school year with old, worn, uncomfortable desks, and during the second week of school I was notified that the new tables were delivered. My advisory class helped put them together, and the impact was immediate.\r\n\r\nThe new tables have had the positive impact on Spanish learning and classroom community that I was hoping for! Students are now sitting in groups of four, with space and freedom of movement where they can engage and learn with comfort for all body types. Through interactive and group activities, students are forming trusting and supportive relationships with their table mates. I have observed more engagement and risk-taking as students speak Spanish each day, and the tables have facilitated collaboration on group projects and creative activities. Throughout the school year students will continue to change table mates and build connections with others, and I can already feel the growing spirit of community and connections that this setup offers.\r\n\r\nI encourage you to check out the photos and students notes to see the impact of your donation on my students and their learning. The grant I got for the laser printer at the end of last school year just barely covered the cost of the printer itself so having you sponsor our project to get materials to print the students' designs on was such a tremendous help. Students unboxed the materials we received last semester: the birchwood, the leather patches, & the acrylic, and then they began to imagine the possibilities of what they could create with them. The first design project we did was to create an original keychain design with the birchwood material. Students had various ideas of types of keychains to create, such as: ones with their initials/names & a little design, a character that has meaning to them, their school club logo design, an inspirational short quote with artwork, and other cool, original concepts. We finally started to print them out last week & they came out very cool and the students were so happy! Thank you again for your kind support of my classroom & giving them the materials to create their ideas with.","fullyFundedDate":1733278767526,"projectUrl":"project/help-students-hold-their-creative-ideas/8983392/","projectTitle":"Help Students Hold Their Creative Ideas in Their Hands","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Goncalves","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp18520_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1512410237323","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-goncalves"},{"teacherId":2629367,"projectId":8954582,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my Maintenance of Certification for National Boards. One of my focal points for this round of reflection was improving mock interviews for seniors. It was very cool to see that, while 33% of students reported negative feelings around interviewing for a job before mock interviews, that percentage dropped down to 9% after just one round of interviews with professionals from the community! It's really affirmed my belief in experiential learning and I aim to continue incorporating it into my practice.\r\nI am currently half done with my write-up with plenty of time before the May 17th deadline. I am very thankful that I was able to start the process early thanks to your donations funding my registration right off the bat. Your contribution has truly transformed our learning environment, creating a space that is not only functional and safe but also inspires a deeper passion for science. These tables have elevated our classroom into a professional and reliable laboratory where students can confidently conduct experiments, explore new ideas, and engage with chemistry in ways that were not previously possible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a tangible difference in the safety and quality of education we can offer. With these specialized tables, students can work without fear of spills or damage, allowing them to fully focus on the learning experience. This upgrade has also instilled a sense of pride and responsibility in the students as they engage in hands-on science in an environment that reflects the real-world standards of laboratories. Your support has sent a powerful message to our students—that their education matters and that there are people who believe in their potential to achieve great things.\r\n\r\nThank you for your impactful gift and for investing in the future of our students. By the end of the period, every last piece is gone—enjoyed and nourishing their growing bodies. For some, it's their first time trying fruits like kiwi or mango. Thanks to your support, they're discovering and enjoying flavors they never knew before. Without them knowing it, we are dismantling our school problem, truancy.\r\n\r\nThe first time I prepared fruit in class, their curiosity was contagious. They eagerly lined up to see what I was doing, then happily took their plates of fruit back to their seats. It was such a joy to watch them savor each bite while continuing to work on their art projects. Your contributions have made it possible to not only keep them engaged but also introduce them to healthy eating habits in a fun and creative way.\r\n\r\nNext, I plan to take this a step further by creating an assignment where they craft a sequential narrative about trying a fruit they've never tasted before.
