The new power strip immediately improved how students collaborate during work sessions, allowing more devices to stay powered without students needing to rotate outlets or pause their work. That simple change reduced friction in the room and helped students stay focused during longer design blocks.\r\n\r\nThe drawing pencils have also made an immediate difference. Students rely on sketching to plan layouts, explore ideas, and work through problems before moving to the computer. Having quality pencils available meant no one had to sit out, borrow, or rush through the early stages of the design process. When the supplies arrived, students were relieved and appreciative—they recognized that these tools were meant to support their work, not just fill a drawer.\r\n\r\nRight now, students are using these resources daily as they move between ideation, sketching, and digital execution on current design projects. Being able to power devices consistently and sketch freely allows them to work more like real designers, managing their time and tools independently. Your support helped remove small but significant barriers, creating a smoother, more professional learning environment for everyone in the room.","fullyFundedDate":1743889748505,"projectUrl":"project/power-and-pencils/9226087/","projectTitle":"Power and Pencils","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Block","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3391762_orig.jpg?crop=1365,1365,x0,y259&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710645667552","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/davidblock"},{"teacherId":3391762,"projectId":9219595,"letterContent":"Because of your support, my students were able to take an abstract design concept and turn it into something tangible they can actually wear. In this project, students designed original visual metaphors—using imagery to represent ideas, emotions, or personal experiences—and then prepared those designs for real-world production on t-shirts. Seeing their work move from sketches and digital drafts into printed garments helped students understand that design isn't just an assignment, it's a form of communication that exists beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the shirts arrived, the reaction was immediate and genuine. Students were excited to see their designs printed at full scale, and many couldn't wait to hold them up, compare details, and talk about the choices they made. For several students, this was the first time they had ever seen their creative work professionally produced. Wearing their own designs sparked confidence, pride, and conversations about symbolism, audience, and how visual ideas are interpreted by others.\r\n\r\nThe next step for students is reflection and refinement. They are currently discussing how effectively their metaphors communicate, what they would adjust in a second iteration, and how this process mirrors real design workflows used in the creative industry. Thanks to your generosity, students didn't just learn about visual storytelling—they experienced what it feels like to see their ideas take shape in the real world. That experience will stay with them far beyond this project.","fullyFundedDate":1743459081804,"projectUrl":"project/wearable-wisdom-student-metaphors-in-mo/9219595/","projectTitle":"Wearable Wisdom: Student Metaphors in Motion","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Block","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3391762_orig.jpg?crop=1365,1365,x0,y259&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710645667552","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/davidblock"},{"teacherId":3391762,"projectId":9021826,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our graphic design program!
