Because of your gifts, for the first time in several years our middle school in Oakland will have a chess club that engages dozens of students once a week, face to face in this historic, and healthy competitive mental game. Our first week of club for this year begins at the end of September. Many students have expressed excitement to join the club, and were SUPER excited when they saw our new boards and timers.\r\n\r\nBecause we are only a couple of weeks into the school year and clubs haven't started (they will next week) I don't have student testimonials or photos of use in real time yet. Kids are very excited to play on the timers and I'm really proud to have them play with real and well made wooden pieces. \r\n\r\nOur first couple of weeks, we will learn rules and history of the game (as many of our students are brand new) and some basic strategies.
