We discussed how they were going to get a chance to try it out and they elected to use our 5-minute timer and allow groups of students to take turns using the space. After this initial test-run, we made it open during all times of the day, including during learning centers. The students love sitting on the furniture, using puppets, and looking at books. They laugh when we try to squeeze in a small chair! Now, they all use the space on their own time, reading to each other, asking teachers to read to them, or using the puppets.\r\nWe really appreciate your generous support. My students are using the wobble chairs at their individual desks during whole group instruction and balance ball chairs during small group activities to stay active and engaged. The beanbags have become a favorite spot for independent reading, where students feel comfortable and focused. The large carpet area is a more comfortable gathering space for our community meetings, where we set the tone for the day with positivity and collaboration. \r\n When the materials arrived, the students faces lit up with joy and curiosity. I thought they would argue over who would be able to sit in them, but they have been surprisingly great about allowing those who need/want to use the alternative seating being able to use them for a specific purpose. I have noticed those students who need to move a bit more than others have really taken to the wobble seats as well as the balance chairs as a way to concentrate during class time. \r\n With the help of this new seating, we have been diving deeper into being more responsible with our work and outcome. Students are using their chosen spots during to complete \"must do\" tasks collaboratively and independently. They are more focused because they get have a choice as to where they can work and don't have to be stationed in their individual seats all day. \r\n Thank you for making our classroom a more dynamic and supportive place to learn.
