Your generosity has made a meaningful impact not only on my classroom, but on our entire fifth-grade team.\r\n\r\nHaving enough copies of the novel has allowed our students to read, discuss, and experience the story together. Instead of relying only on short passages or sharing books, students are able to follow Esperanza's journey from beginning to end and truly become invested in the characters and events.\r\n\r\nWe have used *Esperanza Rising* to practice important reading skills such as citing evidence, answering questions using the RACES strategy, discussing character development, learning new vocabulary, and making connections to history and real-life experiences. The novel has also created opportunities for meaningful classroom conversations about family, perseverance, change, hardship, immigration, and hope.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest impacts has been seeing students become excited about what will happen next. Students are talking about the story, making predictions, and participating in discussions because they have a shared text that they can connect with. These books have helped make reading feel like an experience we are having together rather than simply another assignment.\r\n\r\nBecause there are enough books to support our grade level, the impact reaches far beyond one classroom. Multiple classes of fifth graders are able to benefit from these books, and they can continue to be used with future students for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and giving them access to a novel that is helping strengthen their reading skills while also exposing them to a powerful and meaningful story. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for the difference you have made in our classrooms.","fullyFundedDate":1781230817477,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-students-see-themselves-in-lite/10325113/","projectTitle":"Help Our Students See Themselves in Literature","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vontz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9283440"},{"teacherId":10082228,"projectId":9487089,"letterContent":"The activities and rewards provided through your generosity have brought so much excitement and joy into our classroom. These resources have given my students meaningful opportunities to stay engaged, motivated, and eager to participate in their learning. Whether it's through hands-on activities or small rewards that recognize their effort, my students feel encouraged to do their best each day. These moments of celebration and creativity have truly made our classroom a more positive and inspiring place.\r\n\r\nMy students are incredibly thankful for your kindness. Many of them come from challenging backgrounds, and these activities and rewards give them something to look forward to and feel proud of. I've seen their confidence grow as they are recognized and supported, and it has strengthened our classroom community. As temperatures rise, it can become difficult for students to focus, but these fans help circulate air and keep the room cool throughout the day. This simple addition has reduced discomfort and allowed students to stay engaged in their lessons without being distracted by the heat.\r\n\r\nMy students are incredibly grateful for this support. They often express how much more comfortable they feel and how it helps them concentrate better on their work.
