Now, thanks to you, our students are experiencing the difference that color can make. Research shows that color-rich visuals can boost student attention by up to 80% and increase memory retention by 75%, and we are seeing this firsthand in our classroom.\r\nYour contribution is an investment in our students' education and future. One of our favorite recent projects involved creating expressive portraits using advanced layering and blending techniques. With the new paints, students could experiment confidently—mixing colors to match subtle skin tones, adding depth with glazing, and achieving vibrant highlights that simply weren't possible with our old, limited supplies.\r\n\r\nI'll never forget the moment they first opened the paint boxes. My students excitement filled the room, and you could see their motivation surge. Even students who were usually hesitant dove right in, eager to try new techniques.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll use the paints for a collaborative mural celebrating our school's culture and community. Students are planning color palettes, sketching designs, and practicing brushwork to ensure the mural reflects both their personal voices and collective pride. Your gift didn't just supply materials—it sparked inspiration, built confidence, and expanded their understanding of what they can accomplish as artists.","fullyFundedDate":1746503260034,"projectUrl":"project/colorful-expressions-painting-a-brighte/9074227/","projectTitle":"Colorful Expressions: Painting a Brighter Future","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bolanos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8567734_orig.jpg?crop=937,937,x197,y259&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1662231915883","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8567734"},{"teacherId":6167029,"projectId":9295467,"letterContent":"I would like to begin with gratitude for your generosity. With your donation our students were able to maintain our garden. The esthetic of the garden has changed by 50 percent. Our grass has been maintained because our weed cutter and leaf blower allows students to upkeep the largest area of our garden. Our students have been able to share the responsibilities of the garden. This includes all students using the equipment carefully to maintain the garden. On Fridays our students come to the garden for Wellness Fridays. They open the shed and on a first come first serve basis, our students put on their safety goggles, gardening gloves and aprons. They grab the batteries and plug it into the weed cutter. The next thing they do is smile. They are proud to have learned how to use the equipment. They teach each other to cut the grass and weeds. Half way to through the session they trade and more smiles can be seen. Most importantly they show their classmates their hard work. I can observe as they multiple times look back at their work. They take pictures to show their teachers and family. Its a sense of pride for them. \r\n\r\nOur garden president (2024-2025) arrived to school on Thursday and saw our equipment in the office. She ran to my room and said, \"guess what arrived?\" I said, \"what?\" She said, \"Our equipment for the garden!\" This was so important to her because the garden is her escape. It's her happy place. It is the happy place for so many of our students. In fact our president and vice president wrote about the garden in their university essays (PIQs). They both discussed how gardening helped with their mental health and helped develop an appreciation to our farmworkers and all those that provide food for the entire world. They discussed the lesson that gardening taught them like having patience, nurturing, critical thinking skills to overturn a certain outcome. Partially due to their PIQs about the garden our vice-president is attending UC Irvine and our President is attending UCLA. It is something we so proud to be a part of. \r\n\r\nOur next step is to organize the garden. We have started to label our 40 raised beds and would like to code the labels to better represent what is being grown in each box. We have to fundraise to purchase more equipment and soil for our beds. In addition we would like to create a trellis and a greenhouse. For the time being we are going to keep beautifying the garden and grow Fall and Winter crops.","fullyFundedDate":1746815006782,"projectUrl":"project/our-garden-is-the-most-beautiful-masterp/9295467/","projectTitle":"Our Garden Is the Most Beautiful Masterpiece","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6167029_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746126239881","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6167029"},{"teacherId":5902609,"projectId":9125061,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contributions! We received 8 bags of soil which helped our garden beds gain much needed nutrients. The worm casting help our students learn about the importance of aerating the soil to create better drainage. This influenced our students to start a worm house. The gloves was a necessity as our weeds have over grown and using the gloves protected the student's hand as they pulled the weeds around the raised beds. The shovels were used to mix large amounts of soil and mix compost into the raised beds. The chicken wire will be used to create a trellis for our squash to save space and to give them necessary space to receive sunlight. \r\n\r\nYour generosity allowed us to purchase seeds. Seeds are the best part of learning about growing fruits and vegetables. Students research what companion plants are best for their raised bed. They learn about sun exposure for their crops and how much watering is needed. Students begin to care and nurture their seeds daily. They come to the garden and run to their beds to see how much their crops have grown. \r\n\r\nStudents have been able to have meaningful conversations with their classmates and schoolmates. They take the chance to walk the premises and explore what the garden has to offer. They come to the garden on their free time to see what others have grown and ask each other questions about their success in growing certain crops. Our staff and administration have taken a walk to our garden and expressed the peacefulness they feel. But none of this would be possible without your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1735677126749,"projectUrl":"project/to-plant-a-garden-is-to-believe-in-tomor/8801353/","projectTitle":"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6167029_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746126239881","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6167029"},{"teacherId":5975359,"projectId":8353219,"letterContent":"I'm thrilled to share the incredible impact your donation of a printer with a scanner has had on our art classroom.
