Many of my students benefit from having flexible seating and a space where they can regulate themselves before returning to their work. I have loved seeing how something as simple as a couch has made our classroom feel more welcoming and comfortable for them. Many of my students are on the autism spectrum and have accommodations that allow them to use technology to better access their learning. For some of my students, being able to block out extra noise also helps them stay focused and feel more comfortable while working. It has been great seeing them become more independent and confident when using their technology. Students who struggle with coordination or motor control are now able to complete tasks with greater ease, as their materials stay in place and require less physical effort to manage.\r\nAdditionally, the Velcro strips have allowed me to create customized, hands-on learning materials that support a wide range of abilities. When the mannequin doll heads and professional supplies arrived, their excitement filled the room. They could not wait to get started!\r\nNow, students are using the doll heads to practice different braid patterns, parting techniques, and creative hairstyles. I will never forget the moment they first saw the materials — there were smiles, cheers, and so much pride. They immediately began experimenting with new styles and sharing their creations with one another. Many even told their friends about the club, and our membership has grown so much that we've had to rearrange parts of our classroom to make space for everyone.\r\nNext, students are working on mastering more advanced braid styles and building confidence in their skills.
