Most importantly, it has completely transformed our classroom. My second-grade Dual Language students now have a proper gathering space that comfortably fits everyone. What was once simply floor space is now the heart of our classroom community.\r\n\r\nEvery day, students gather on the rug for read-alouds, class meetings, discussions, and collaborative learning. I often catch them studying the maps and flags, pointing out countries connected to their families, or asking thoughtful geography questions. The rug is no longer just décor—it is a teaching tool, a conversation starter, and a symbol of belonging.\r\n\r\nEven more touching, former students visit during lunch and after school just to sit and read or work in our new cozy space. That alone speaks volumes about the warmth it brings.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has extended far beyond the rug. Because we are allotted only two reams of paper per month, the additional paper you provided has allowed us to print supplemental materials that add rigor and deepen student learning. Second graders need time writing on paper—drafting, revising, solving, and practicing—and your support has made that possible.\r\n\r\nThe colored pencils have strengthened students' map skills and helped them label and record science experiments with greater accuracy and pride. The Expo markers have become an essential part of our daily math and grammar lessons. Students quickly compute problems and show their thinking on whiteboards, allowing me to do immediate checks for understanding and adjust instruction in real time.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom feels brighter, warmer, and more dynamic. You have not simply provided supplies—you have created comfort, increased engagement, and expanded opportunities for meaningful learning.\r\n\r\nWe are beyond grateful. My students are enjoying their new gathering space, proudly using their supplies, and continuing to grow—academically and as a community—because of your kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1763576217998,"projectUrl":"project/a-bright-and-cozy-learning-space-for-gro/9819652/","projectTitle":"A Bright and Cozy Learning Space for Growing Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ortiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7386179_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597126386736","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7386179"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25405","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":525,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":94,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.6,"schoolId":25405,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Buford Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Buford Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lennox-school-district/buford-elementary-school/25405"}
