Science, Technology, Engineering, Math... better known in education circles as STEM. Magna tiles and other manipulative supplies allow students to experiment, collaborate and problem solve. My students will learn to think outside of the box while tapping into kinesthetic, spatial and logical capabilities. STEM materials will be used each day as morning work, providing an engaging, hands-on opportunity for students to be inventors and expert problem solvers. The Lakeshore Gear Builders will allow students to learn about forces, energy, cause and effect. The Magna Tiles will allow students to explore geometry concepts. Students will begin to realize that math and science aren't abstract and scary. It is hands-on learning that is doable and fun. The best part about using STEM bins is they take charge of their learning and gain confidence that permeates all aspects of their academic lives.
