Your donations are already making a meaningful difference in our daily learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe computer headphones have been especially helpful for our students. They reduce distractions from surrounding noise, allowing students to focus more clearly on their lessons and during testing. This is particularly beneficial for our special needs students and speech students, who rely on clear audio and a quiet environment to fully engage in learning activities. With fewer distractions, they are more confident, independent, and successful.\r\n\r\nThe Clorox wipes are helping us maintain a clean and healthy classroom. By disinfecting surfaces regularly, we are able to reduce the spread of germs and create a safer space where students can focus on learning without worrying about getting sick.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase boards, markers, and erasers are being used in positive and productive ways every day. Students enjoy practicing skills, solving problems, and sharing their thinking in an interactive format. I am excited to integrate these books into our music curriculum. Literacy is crucial to providing cultural background to many of our songs, and to the reading of the English and music language in our classes. \r\n\r\nI try to include literature in our music class whenever possible. Many of our songs have literacy extensions that can improve the understanding and background knowledge of the song. For example, the book \"If You Plant a Seed\" by Kadir Nelson can be used to extend the learning of the song Oats, Peas, Beans and Barley Grow. The more thoughtful and positive experiences students have with our songs, the more we can expand upon them as they grow. \r\n\r\nMy younger students in particular love our literature collection, and sometimes they will come by afterschool or during recess to look at books on their own. The new printer and ink are helping us to make music and are helping me spend more time with the students and less time prepping at the copy machine. \r\n\r\nMost of my classes at the two school sites I teach at are 30 minutes long, and some of the younger grades are only 20 minutes. Sometimes I get a 5 minute passing period between classes, but most of the time one class is entering as the next is leaving. Having a printer available in the classroom allows us to make last minute adjustments to our class or print something the students forgot to bring with them. \r\n\r\nIt has also allowed me to create a lot of new materials to use with the students, including extra practice books for our band and string students. The students were very excited to receive these personalized books full of songs they learned when they were younger that they can now learn to play on their instruments.
