It does not matter if it is a picture book or novel, they are engaged and look forward to this time. With the lights turned down low and gathered around my chair on the carpet we come together as a class. Reading in this way we are not only learning but creating a classroom community and bonding over our love of the characters. My students love seasonal books. They especially love funny tales such as Creepy Carrots and Creepy Cayons. We were able to compare and contrast stories about leaves as well as study character traits. Students were so engaged comparing different stories about falling leaves and many laughs were had. One student immediately sat on a wobble cushion and said, \"This helps me focus!\" These flexible seating tools have already made a big difference for my students with sensory needs, giving them safe ways to move and self-regulate so they can stay engaged during lessons.\r\n\r\nWe're also using the composition notebooks and file folders to help each student build their own space for learning. This sense of ownership has encouraged them to keep track of their work and stay organized. The prize items like sequin keychains, glow sticks, and multicolor pens have become part of our positive reinforcement system—they're so excited to work toward earning them! Even our new clipboards and dry-erase erasers help with small-group work and independent activities.
