The 40 Book Challenge is a project about giving student in my classroom the opportunity to explore the experience of reading. The student, through this diverse classroom library, must complete the challenge of reading 40 book by the end of the school year. Many of these students come from low socioeconomic homes where books are not easily accessible. I want them to have the opportunity in this classroom to gain the love for reading! Especially in my 3rd grade classroom reading is vital. Having many student in classroom be English language leaners reading , also shown by research is key. Reading helps gain independent knowledge and development on vocabulary and language skills. Creating readers and giving them the power to gain knowledge is a investment for their future.
