My students were excited to see the new materials arrive, especially the emotion plush toys, sensory tubes, and A Little SPOT books. We are using these resources throughout our day to help students identify and understand their feelings, practice calming strategies, and feel more comfortable during transitions and challenging moments. The visual schedule has also been very helpful as we continue teaching routines and expectations and helping our students become more independent. The hands-on materials, including the tracing centers, lacing cards, giant beads, and word-building activities, are giving my students fun and engaging ways to practice their early academic and fine-motor skills.\r\nWe are continuing to build on these skills by working on recognizing emotions, communicating needs, following visual routines, and using appropriate calming strategies when big feelings arise. The laminator and reusable materials have also allowed me to create individualized visual supports and activities that we can use again and again. Seeing my students explore the new materials, engage with the activities, and begin using some of the supports as part of their daily routines has been so rewarding. Having different options allows our students to find activities they enjoy while practicing important skills like throwing, catching, kicking, hitting, running, and working as a team.\r\n\r\nThe boys have especially been having a blast playing with the soccer balls. They are excited to run, kick, and play together. We are also excited to start playing some basketball games soon!\r\n\r\nOur students are enjoying being more active and having more choices during PE. They are learning how to work together, take turns, follow game rules, and encourage their classmates. They are learning to make choices, follow directions, be patient, and watch a project from beginning to end. They also get to see how technology can be used to create real objects.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts for our students is watching the printer work layer by layer. They are always excited to see their fidget slowly take shape and are so proud when it is finished. Some students especially enjoy choosing different fidgets and sharing their finished creations with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThis technology has given our students a fun way to be creative, learn new skills, and feel proud of something they helped create. We are all so excited. I plugged in all the chargers into the iPad cart right away. We finally were able to have the whole classes iPads charge at one time. Before, I only had 6 chargers and I would have to come in early to switch the chargers and then change them again. Even then not all iPads would charge. Now we get all the iPads charged in time to start instruction. The students are so excited because they all get to start the day with their fully charged iPad. They no longer have to share or miss out because their iPad is not charged.
