Students walked in and immediately noticed the change. Their faces lit up with surprise and curiosity, asking, \"Are those for us?\" and \"Can we use them today?\" It was a special moment to witness their joy and eagerness. Within minutes, students were testing the height adjustments, organizing their supplies, and volunteering to use them right away.\r\n\r\nWe started by rotating students through the desks to give everyone a chance to experience them. It quickly became clear how impactful they were. Students who usually struggled to stay focused were more engaged while standing. One student told me he felt \"more awake and ready to think,\" while another said standing made her feel \"more confident sharing ideas.\"\r\n\r\nA great example of how the desks have enhanced learning was during a recent math lesson on discounts and sales. Students were given mock store catalogs with listed prices and had to calculate sale prices using percentages—like 20% off, 50% off, or \"Buy One, Get One Half Off.\" The lesson required critical thinking, mental math, and teamwork. Students working at the standing desks were more collaborative and active. They used dry-erase boards to work through calculations, moved around to compare deals, and engaged more freely with peers. The ability to move while learning made the activity more dynamic and helped them focus during this real-world application of math concepts.\r\n\r\nThese desks have done more than improve comfort—they've transformed how we use our space and time. I've noticed increased participation, better posture, and more energy during lessons. Students are more eager to engage in group work and class discussions, especially when they're standing. They've even begun managing who gets to use the desks fairly, showing responsibility and teamwork.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to use the standing desks during our upcoming budget simulation unit. Students will manage mock finances—planning for expenses like rent, food, and savings—while applying math skills. The desks will provide space for teams to work together actively, organize data, and share presentations.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, these standing desks have become valuable tools in our learning environment. They support both academic success and student well-being. What might seem like a simple classroom addition has made a huge difference in focus, movement, and engagement. I am deeply grateful for your support and so are my students.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and for giving my students the chance to learn in a way that supports their energy, curiosity, and confidence every day.","fullyFundedDate":1739373537402,"projectUrl":"project/stand-for-success-providing-standing-de/9005918/","projectTitle":"Stand for Success: Providing Standing Desks for Active Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Salinas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8431829_orig.png?crop=479,479,x0,y212&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651155461476","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8431829"},{"teacherId":1953079,"projectId":9201126,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for donating to my project.
