Since receiving the jump ropes, agility ladders, balance discs, resistance bands, and speaker, our Adapted PE classes have felt more engaging, structured, and fun than ever.\r\n\r\nThe speaker has been a game changer. We use music to help with transitions, pacing, and motivation, and it's made a huge difference for my students. Many of them respond really well to rhythm and routine, so having music playing during workouts helps them stay focused and excited to participate. It's also helped create a positive, upbeat environment where students feel comfortable moving and trying new things.\r\n\r\nThe fitness equipment has been just as impactful. Students love having options—some gravitate toward the balance discs to work on balance and core strength, while others prefer resistance bands because they can adjust the challenge level. Jump ropes have been great for building coordination and cardio, and it's been awesome to see students cheering each other on as they practice.\r\n\r\nI've seen students who were once hesitant to join in become more confident and willing to try. One student in particular now asks to use the balance discs every class, while others proudly show how they can use the bands independently. They have been such a huge hit- surprisingly more than snacks. Knowing what they are motivated by, I plan to continue to use fidgets in my daily work with students. \r\n\r\nNot only do I see a difference in their level of intensity of emotions and physical response, but they are also vocal in how helpful the fidgets are. I have seen my students blossom in their reading interest. I have been teaching for 29 years, but only 4 years at the high school level. It was very surprising to me when I started teaching high school students how little the students liked reading or how much they actually disliked it. In elementary school, students loved reading time, silent reading, and whole group reading. By receiving these books, I was able to light the spark of interest again in these students that haven't been interested for a few years. \r\nWe have been reading the first book in the series as a whole class. We completed some introduction lessons to get the students excited about the book we were about to start reading. Now, we have reviews, vocabulary, and discussions about the chapters as we read them. Students say they are interested in what happens next. \r\nOne of the greatest surprises was when one of my students, one that has been in my class for 3 years and always expressed his aversion to reading because of past experiences, and he requested that we take turns reading out loud for a few chapters.
