Since receiving the jump ropes, agility ladders, balance discs, resistance bands, and speaker, our Adapted PE classes have felt more engaging, structured, and fun than ever.\r\n\r\nThe speaker has been a game changer. We use music to help with transitions, pacing, and motivation, and it's made a huge difference for my students. Many of them respond really well to rhythm and routine, so having music playing during workouts helps them stay focused and excited to participate. It's also helped create a positive, upbeat environment where students feel comfortable moving and trying new things.\r\n\r\nThe fitness equipment has been just as impactful. Students love having options—some gravitate toward the balance discs to work on balance and core strength, while others prefer resistance bands because they can adjust the challenge level. Jump ropes have been great for building coordination and cardio, and it's been awesome to see students cheering each other on as they practice.\r\n\r\nI've seen students who were once hesitant to join in become more confident and willing to try. One student in particular now asks to use the balance discs every class, while others proudly show how they can use the bands independently. These moments may seem small, but they mean everything to my students.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this project possible and for supporting my students in such a meaningful way. I have seen my students blossom in their reading interest. I have been teaching for 29 years, but only 4 years at the high school level. It was very surprising to me when I started teaching high school students how little the students liked reading or how much they actually disliked it. In elementary school, students loved reading time, silent reading, and whole group reading. By receiving these books, I was able to light the spark of interest again in these students that haven't been interested for a few years. \r\nWe have been reading the first book in the series as a whole class. We completed some introduction lessons to get the students excited about the book we were about to start reading. Now, we have reviews, vocabulary, and discussions about the chapters as we read them. Students say they are interested in what happens next. \r\nOne of the greatest surprises was when one of my students, one that has been in my class for 3 years and always expressed his aversion to reading because of past experiences, and he requested that we take turns reading out loud for a few chapters. I was so happy to hear that he was interested in reading what came next!","fullyFundedDate":1758767210329,"projectUrl":"project/ready-set-read/9589889/","projectTitle":"Ready, Set, Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cendejas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/325269"},{"teacherId":8836709,"projectId":9754478,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation! Students have even come back asking for more, and since we received plenty, everyone has been able to share in the excitement. While many donors may use technology at home, a 3D printer in a school psychology setting serves a unique purpose as it becomes a tool for healing, hands-on learning, and meaningful engagement. I am now able to create personalized sensory tools, coping supports, and SEL materials that meet each student's individual needs, helping them stay regulated, communicate their feelings, and participate more confidently in interventions.\r\n\r\nStudents are especially excited by the creative process. They love watching an idea turn into a real object and often help design their own tools whether it's a custom worry stone, an emotion-regulation fidget, or motivation tokens they can earn. This sense of ownership has increased their motivation, independence, and willingness to practice new coping strategies. The combination of sensory tools and personalized 3D-printed supports has made our sessions more engaging, calming, and accessible for students with ADHD, autism, anxiety, and trauma-related challenges.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been most visible in students who previously struggled to engage. One student now transitions more smoothly thanks to a visual schedule he helped create, another uses her 3D-printed achievement tokens to stay focused, and a student working through trauma relies on her self-designed worry stone to ground herself throughout the day.
