Currently, I am teaching virtually using a small white board and holding up the white board to the webcam. Chemistry has multiple steps and processing, when solving problems and showing examples. Connecting the iPad to Zoom and using the pencil, will help make it easier for my students to follow along with the more technical side of Chemistry. One example, this could be used for would be stoichiometry, and dimensional analysis. This is a key principle that needs to be understood and is heavy on math and problem solving. It would be difficult for students to follow along, if I have to solve problems on a white board, hold it up to the webcam, and then explain the process after it has already been done. It would be much more effective if students can watch the work being done in real time. Also, it would allow for more guided practice as I can stop at any point of the instruction, and have students chime in. It would mimic the in-class experience more effectively, during our time with virtual learning.
