It has already had a meaningful impact on both student learning and classroom behavior.\r\n\r\nStudents are actively using the new resources to improve their behavior. One notable area of growth has been student self-regulation and focus. It serves as a concrete visual and tactile aid, helping students maintain attention, follow directions, and participate appropriately during music activities. Students who previously struggled with impulsive behaviors or staying engaged are now more successful during whole-group instruction.\r\n\r\nWhen students were first introduced to the calendar, their excitement was immediate and positive. Many students demonstrated improved readiness to learn, transitioning more smoothly into music class and showing increased motivation to participate. It has helped to establish expectations and contributed to calmer, more purposeful behavior.\r\n\r\nThese materials also function as visual supports during instruction, reinforcing concepts such as steady beat, rhythm patterns, and turn-taking. Visual modeling has been another added benefit, and the students in the video, as you will see, used it as a secondary aid to present a little take-home video for their parents for an upcoming concert.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue using these resources to perform rhythm patterns, collaborate in small ensembles, and apply rhythmic concepts to songs and movement activities. It took a little adjustment when they first started using the wobble seats. One student wanted to use the wobble seat as a drum. We gave them a few minutes to wobble as much as they want. Once they got it out of their system, they were able to utilize the seats correctly. \r\n The students use the wobble seats while in a small group setting in the classroom. They are also able to use the seats at their desks or another table if needed. The Science of Reading is clear on the importance of using phonics to decode words when learning to read. These books were written using that research ensuring students are able to decode to read rather than guessing the words. These books provide both fiction and nonfiction stories providing a high interest level.\r\n\r\nMy kindergarteners love realizing they can read. These books have the stories both with and without pictures. While the pictures add interest level and support, being able to read a story without pictures ensures students are actually reading and not guessing at the words. My students and I love that both options are available. My assistant and I are able both able to continue working with small groups while students are using their devices. The brand-new class set of tap shoes has already transformed our lessons. During a recent lesson, we learned tap patterns and fundamental movements to create a short dance, and the students lit up as they heard their movements come to life in sound.\r\n\r\nThe day the tap shoes arrived was pure magic. Boxes were opened to squeals of delight, wide eyes, and spontaneous clapping. Several students slipped their shoes on immediately and began experimenting with shuffles and stomps, amazed at the music they could create with their own feet. One child said, \"Are we going to use these in our next show!\"—and that sense of excitement hasn't worn off.\r\n\r\nNext, we're preparing a collaborative tap performance that will blend a small bucket drum band from our instrumental core with our tap dancers.
