I teach 4th and 5th grade gifted students in a school that is about 75% free and reduced lunch. We are fortunate to have supportive parents, but many are unable to provide those rich out of school experiences that develop a well rounded learner. The school provides breakfast, lunch and even snacks to students. For many students, school is the safest, most loving place in their lives.
