Being new to a school, creating a welcoming and cozy place for reading intervention has been such a joy. The students come into our room and often breathe a sigh of relief as they are leaving the larger classroom setting and get to focus on their individual reading growth goals. \r\n\r\nTaft is such a special school. This year, we have established intervention plans for every class in all grades - k through 6. We have students in high interest book clubs, phonemic awareness and letter recognition groups, essay writing focused groups, phonics and decoding, and so much more. Every child has a 30 minute block of their day, at least 4 days a week, dedicated to advancing them as readers. Thank you for helping me build a space where all of that planning can take place and young readers can come thrive. \r\n\r\nI plan to return to Taft next fall and continue this meaningful work.
