My project is to launch a Project LIT Book Club in my school. The Project LIT Book Club a national, grassroots LITeracy movement, a network of dedicated teachers and students who are committed to increasing access to culturally relevant books and promoting a love of reading in our schools and communities. The goal of my project is to put high quality, culturally relevant books into the hands of my students, while promoting positive attitudes towards literature. Books that allow ALL students to see themselves in the pages. Our Book Club will challenge our students to be readers and leaders in our school and community, while celebrating reading for the joy of reading. Our discussions will engage students, as well as community members, as we promote empathy and looking at the world through another's perspective. Thank you for your support and generosity!
